FAQ
- Q: Do you really use lasers to build this thing?
A: Yes. Lasers are used to make the fishing rod/cane holder parts, the serial number label, and the warp core. (This process is called 3D printing. Click here for more information.)
- Q: How far can I go without charging?
A: For normal usage you will get around 10-15 kilometers. (6-10 miles)
- Q: How much does it weigh?
A: 11.8 KG (26 lbs) including the power cord, and tools.
- Q. Is this new? I've never seen one before.
A. No, limited production of the M10 started in 2016. We now have many hours of customer usage in the damnedest conditions and our owners still talk to us. Destructive Testing by our intrepid test rider continues daily. (see:Lori's Trike)
- Q. What is it called?
A. LTrike© M10. For "light" trike or "Lithium" trike or "Lori's" trike, etc,. The 10 stands for kilograms--the target weight without cord/tool bag and fishing rod/cane holder.
- Q. What does the M10 really weigh?
A. 26 lbs (11.8 kg) complete with everything.
- Q. How much weight can it carry?
A. Design load is 230 lbs. The M10 will carry up to 275 lbs but performance will suffer on grades.
- Q. How much does it cost?
A. $2575.00 usd. (Shipping included in the Continental US)
- Q. Does it fold up?
A. Yes. See video
- Q. Do I need a special way to transport it?
A. No. It will fit in just about every car trunk or back seat. It also comes with a canvas carry bag.
- Q. Is it electric?
A. Yes. The LTrike © has a 24V-250 watt front hub motor with a 15.6 ah Lithium battery.
- Q. How long does the battery last (hours)?
A. If the unit is not being ridden, the charge is good for months. If riding the trike, it depends on what you weigh as well as how hilly the terrain. For instance, if you are climbing an 8% grade, you will need to charge the unit after approximately 1.6 hours of use.
- Q. How far can it go on a charge?
A. Depending on weight and type of environment in which you are riding, approximately 8-12 miles. (13-20 Km)
- Q. How do I charge it?
A. Just plug into any standard outlet using the included power cord for 2-3 hours. (the charger is built in.)
- Q. Is it balanced? It looks kind of "iffy."
A. Yes. The LTrike © is inherently balanced as it has three wheels arraigned in a wide-based triangle. Also, due to the seat position which puts the center of gravity of the vehicle (with rider) at 75% aft, there is no tendency for tipping or instability in normal use.
- Q. What if I need to back up?
A. Just push the button located on the thumb throttle to select reverse. Or just put your feet down on the ground and walk the unit back.
- Q. What if I get into a really tight location and the LTrike © will not turn sharply enough?
A. Just stand up and move/rotate the LTrike©. Remember It only weighs 26 pounds.
- Q. Can I take it on an airplane?
A. Depends on the airline. The LTrike © meets all airline safety regulations but since it does have a Lithium battery you cannot bring the unit into the cabin. But it certainly can go in gate/door checked luggage. It seems that what works the best for the airlines is that at check-in, one remains seated on the M10 so that the airline employee(s) will understand that you have walking problems. You will receive either at the check-in or more likely at the gate counter, the "Gate delivery" tags for the LTrike M10. When you get to the airplane door a airline employee will collect the LTrike and take it to the baggage hold. We recommend that you remove the seat spider and take it onto the plane with you and put it in overhead storage or under the seat. After arrival the airline gate personnel will bring the LTrike to you at the airplane door/entry ramp. So far this has been the best method per other LTrike owners experiences and you get to use the unit from the Airport curb to the airplane door.
- Q. How do I find out more?
A. Just email us at sales@ltrike.com or call 01-760-723-8071.
- Q. How & where can I get one? How long will it take?
A. All sales are through the order page. All major credit cards and Paypal are accepted. As production is very limited (15 units per month max), you may have to wait a little bit to get yours. At time of purchase we will send you a confirmation email with the delivery date.
- Q. Where can I ride it?
A. The LTrike © M10 is designed to be ridden on paved surfaces, sidewalks, in buildings, airports and stores, etc. It is not suitable for soft dirt or grass surfaces.
- Q. Will Medicare pay for it?
A. Medicare will buy a mobility device for home indoor use if you require one. But we do not know what percentage of the cost for the LTrike © would be covered. You will just have to call them and stay on hold for a week.
- Q. Is the LTrike tax deductable?
A. Yes. Per IRS Publication 502 (2017), Medical and Dental Expenses; you can deduct the cost of a wheelchair or other mobility device. "You can include in medical expenses the amounts you pay for a wheelchair used for the relief of a sickness or disability. The cost of operating and maintaining the wheelchair is also a medical expense".
NOTE: Medical equipment must be considered “Medically necessary” in order to qualify for a deduction. To prove that certain equipment or home modifications are
medically necessary, you will need a written recommendation from your doctor. Without a written recommendation, you may not be able to deduct the cost of your equipment – regardless of how necessary you may consider it to be.
